Thierry Lorenzi

Thierry Lorenzi is a french writer and director, born on February 25, 1981. After obtaining a technological university degree in Service and Communication Network and a Multimedia Technical license in image and sound, during which he directed the end-of-study short film FANTASMAGORIA (Jury's favorite – Fête du Court 2004, FRANCE), he created the company Black Box Production in 2005 and set himself a high ambition from the start defined by visually generous production choices, driven by a strong theme on transhumanism and requiring substantial logistics. To this end, he wrote and directed in 2009, BABY BOOM, his first professional short film. A cyberpunk with Jo Prestia, selected in twenty festivals around the world including Les Utopiales in Nantes and Le Pifan in South Korea. The story imagined by Thierry Lorenzi is centered around a female android capable of reproducing human existence, questioned by a sheriff, a priest and a mercenary. BABY BOOM manages in less than 8 minutes to create a realistic setting, to create a disturbing atmosphere and to paint credible characters who are all archetypes specific to a myriad of genres. BABY BOOM has been reviewed positively by the specialized press (Mad-Movies, L'Ecran Fantastique, BraZil²). Since 2021, the short film has been available on the svod service, Vidiverse, created by director Alex Proyas. In 2013, Thierry Lorenzi wrote and directed ON/OFF still produced by Black Box Production with the participation of the Canadian visual effects company, Rodeo FX (Black Adam, LOTR: Rings of Powers, Dune...) where he continued his reflection on transhumanism by pushing it to the philosophical theme of post-humanity. ON/OFF tells about the astronaut Meredith's obsession for a vocal message that seems to concern her. In the end, no less than 150 people were needed to complete this spectacular and mesmerizing odyssey. The film, which stars Carole Brana and Arben Bajraktaraj, has participated in more than 100 festivals around the world and has been awarded 16 times, including 8 times for "Best Short Film". ON/OFF was broadcast on France 2 (the first national French television channel). It currently has more than 750,000 views on Youtube (Dust channel). Thierry Lorenzi has never stopped evolving and questioning himself around transhumanism, a literally obsessive topical theme that feeds both his thoughts and his cinematographic visions, which he has always wanted to be exciting, hypnotic and innovative. He's currently developing several feature film projects, including BOLT, an anticipation film on transhumanist ideology in sport for To Be Continued (Onoda : 10 000 Nights in the Jungle) and Tobina Film (Let the Corps Tan). Project selected at Frontieres Market (Montreal) and Paris Digital Summit.
