Celine is an award-winning British-Lebanese writer and director, with a focus on female-driven, genre bending stories in Film and TV. Her previous work has been supported by the Doha Film Institute, BFI, Trademark Films and Goldfinch: First Flights.
LAYLA IN DREAMLAND is a feature being developed with BFI Network and mentored by Will Clarke (Altitude Film Entertainment). A coming-of-age skateboarding drama exploring UK migrant culture, the project has been supported by Edinburgh International Film Festival Talents 2019, Berlinale Talents 2020 and London Film Festival’s Production Finance Market 2020.
LEGS is a feature currently in development and based on a proof-of-concept short starring Laura Carmiachel (Downton Abbey). A darkly comic body horror, the project was awarded Goldfinch: First Flights’ 2021 film fund.
Writing for TV, Celine’s projects include YA comedy/drama BLOOD TYPES (Rollout Pictures), featured at SKY Table Reads 2022. Other projects include crime drama _WHITEHAT, children’s animation MICE OF THE UNDERGROUND (Sundance Episodic Labs shortlisted) and KNICKERPERV.
Writer’s room credits include MBC/Starling Entertainment’s AIR MEDS.
Celine’s short films have won and been nominated for awards at a number of BAFTA/Academy Qualifying festivals, receiving nearly a million views online. They include children’s drama THE TIME TREE (2018), skateboarding drama LAYLA (2019), documentary THE EDGE OF HOME (2020) and dark comedy, LEGS (2022).
She was awarded h Club London’s Film Emerging Creative 2019 and is part of Directors UK Access and Inclusion committee and Directors UK Inspire 2020. Her favourite filmmakers are Guillermo Del Toro, Billy Wilder, and Agnes Varda.
She is represented by Charlotte Knight at Knight Hall Agency.
