Calvin Jacob Welch is a DIY filmmaker from Southeast Texas working in both narrative and experimental cinema. He has written and directed short films, music videos, and digital advertisements and has worked in the art department for companies such as Universal, Showtime, Miramax, and TBS. In addition to pushing the boundaries of genre and aesthetics, his primary goal as a filmmaker is to use the means of film production to create functional egalitarian economies where everyone that is a part of a film's cast and crew are paid the same day rate and share equally in the film's profits. His aesthetic interests are in post-narrative structures, where ideas and emotions are interpreted through associations between shots, dialogue, and sounds as opposed to rigid plots or stories.
