Borned in 1978, in Lisbon, Portugal, Luís Alves is a Portuguese filmmaker. He attended the University Lusófona, where he directed various short features, both fictions, as documentaries. After the film school period, he started directing music videos and corporate videos, before directing his three independent and multi awarded short features. He started, in 2011, with the single take thriller “The Grave”, winner of several awards in Portugal. Following, 2013 was the year of the political satire “White”, winner of various awards in Portugal and one award in the Thess International Short Film Festival, in Greece. In 2022 he turned to the mystery horror genre and directed “The Coutinho Affair”, awarded in The Fear Faire Film Festival, in the United States, and official selection of the most prestigious horror festivals in Portugal, like Motel X and Fantasporto. He’s currently preparing his first long feature.
