I always say that making movies is my playground. Kind of like when a kid finds out he's going to the park... On a set, I am overwhelmed with joy.
When I was young, I wanted to be a Karate master. Training took up all the space. And then I was bowled over by movies like The Exorcist, Star Wars, The Shining, Rocky, and Alien. So when Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" touched my heart, I decided to become a filmmaker. I started in advertising and music videos. It was the best school for me. I've done a few hundred commercials and music videos over the past 30 years. I won the Grand Prix of the artistic directors club in 1997, two bronze LIONS at the Cannes festival in 1997 and 2006, the public's Marcus in 2003 at the SATCAR film festival, two LYNX (Gold and Silver) in 2009 at the Dubai Film Festival. I directed 5 feature films, Yamakasi, Sons of the wind, Scorpion, Night Fare (Best film at the Denver MILE HORROR film festival), Darkness Falls, 4 TV movies, more than 100 TV series episodes, a documentary. In a few weeks, the principal photography of KALI, my new feature film as a writer, director and producer, will start in Rio.
