Brett Barton

Starting out as a visual arts graduate and winner of the Queensland Young Filmmakers Award, Brett cut his teeth early on with television commercials and assorted film projects. After moving to Sydney, he worked for various studios including Universal and Sony Pictures before becoming a freelance writer for numerous industry and commercial publications. After living in Los Angeles developing and critiquing screenplays, and with his works having been optioned, he returned to Sydney.


Brett was co-writer with Alex Proyas on the rom-com musical short ‘Lovelorn Lockdown’ (2021) and writer/director on ‘The Consequence of John Doe’ (2023). Brett is currently developing several film and television projects including a horror-thriller based on Japanese mythology.
